In view of the recent convictions of the musicians Valtonyc, Pablo Hasél and La insurgencia, and the removal of the work of Santiago Sierra from the ARCO 2018 fair, the Teatre Lliure wishes to express its complete rejection of any type of censorship, in favour of the freedom of expression and the right of denunciation for all artists, regardless of the field in which they work. “Unless there is liberty to criticise, praise has no value and only trivial minds are apprehensive of trivial scribbling” (The Marriage of Fígaro)
