THE THIRD DIRECTORS LAB MEDITERRANEAN AT TEATRE LLIURE!
An international stage direction workshop

Endorsed by the Lincoln Center Theatre Directors Lab and led by the director Anne Cattaneo, Directors Lab Mediterranean was first held at the American University of Beirut in July 2019.

This project's mission is to spark creative debate and train up-and-coming stage directors. The founding members are Anna Kapousizi, an actress, lecturer and member of the Hellenic Theater Studies Association and the European Network of Research and Documentation of Performance of Ancient Greek Drama (Arc-Net); Mohamed Bani Hani, a director, actor and playwright, and member of the Jordanian Artists Syndicate; Lisa Nava, a film director and member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, Sahar Assaf, a stage manager and assistant professor at the American University of Beirut, and Juan Carlos Martel Bayod, stage director and current director of Teatre Lliure.

With the aim making artistic voices from Mediterranean countries known, the premise of the Directors Lab is to connect with the artistic and dramatic heritage of the Mediterranean area and become a meeting point for directors around the world to exchange experiences.

On this third occasion, the laboratory will be held in July 2021 at Teatre Lliure, under the title Stageless Theatre. A score of participants will work on the possibilities and meaning of theatre without a physical presence, as a result of the format changes that the COVID-19 pandemic has forced on the performing arts. For ten days, workshops will be run by professionals from various stage disciplines.
