The actor and director Julio Manrique returns to the Lliure after the success of L’ànec salvatge [The Wild Duck] by Henrik Ibsen in 2017. This time round, he is directing his first Chekhov (1860-1904).
It is the story of three sisters (Masha, Olga and Irina) and a brother (Andrei) in the unsatisfying and decadent life of the wealthy classes in rural Russia. Moscow is the main symbolic feature of the play, which is always idealised and yearned for by the characters, who are unable to take part in the brand new world.
