Carlota Soldevila grants

AJUTS A LA CREACIÓ CARLOTA SOLDEVILA

EXTRAORDINARY GRANTS FOR ART
Given the exceptional circumstances we are living through, and based on its clear commitment to supporting the cultural fabric, this March the Teatre Lliure is once again opening the call for Carlota Soldevila Extraordinary grants for creation.
The format of the Grants will be similar to those awarded in the 19/20 season. With a financial endowment of 46,250 Euros, support will be provided for the concept behind 20 projects in 4 categories.

The partnerships are expanded, and the Temporada Alta festival and the Fira Tàrrega - Arts de CarrerMostra Igualada. The plans received will be considered with these institutions.
The Carlota Soldevila extraordinary grants 20/21 are possible thanks to the partnership between the Theatre and the Fundació Banc Sabadell. This partnership is a response to the desire of both institutions to foster and support theatre art and production.

ARTISTIC RESIDENCY PROGRAMME
To commemorate the centenary of the birth of the actress and founder of the Lliure Carlota Soldevila, we began the Artistic Residencies Programme which bears her name in June 2019.

For the 21/22 Season, the programme retains its commitment to opening up the concept of authorship to any theatrical artist, and to supporting the younger generations in order to promote collective creation and living authorship. The four types of residency are:

  • ·        resident artist
  • ·        resident company
  • ·        creative exchange residencies
  • ·        Creators IN RESIDENCE
The resident company and artist will be chosen from some of the 20 winning projects of last season's Carlota Soldevila Extraordinary grants for creation. The decision will be taken with the Teatre Lliure Advisory Board, and the result will be announced in the coming months.

The third Creative exchange residencies, after stopovers at the Hammana Artist House (Lebanon) and the Centre of a Less Good Idea in Johannesburg (South Africa), heads for Poland, and in particular, to the Centrum Kultury Nowy Teatr in Warsaw. The call will be announced simultaneously at the Lliure and the Nowy Teatr in March 2021, and the exchange will take place over two months, in the spring of 2022.

The Centrum Kultury Nowy Teatr has been located in what used to be a brick factory since 2016. It is an interdisciplinary cultural space of 9,000 square metres, which hosts artistic and social initiatives aimed at finding new forms of communication engaged in the daily life of the local community. The Nowy Teatr produces its own theatrical shows, organises events, programmes workshops and interdisciplinary projects, exhibitions, concerts, initiatives in the urban space, national and international festivals, debates, conferences and publications. Some of the Nowy Teatr's productions are undertaken as national and international co-productions. The theatre's artistic director, Krzysztof Warlikowski, will receive the Golden Lion in recognition of his career at the Venice Biennale in 2021.

Creadors En RESiDÈNCiA [Creators in RESIDENCE], the programme by the Barcelona Institute of Culture and the Barcelona Education Consortium with the involvement of the Teatre Lliure, will be presenting the artist and secondary school selected for the 21/22 edition this school year.
